Dr. Smith
Dr. Smith has recently relocated here from Hawaii where he has been actively practicing spine surgery for 16 years.
Dr. Smith completed his under graduate and medical school training at the University of Utah - Graduating with honors (Magna cum Laude, Phi Beta Phi. Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha), After which he completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Hawaii, a Spine fellowship at Louisiana State University (LSU) and then returned to the University of Hawaii as a assistant professor of surgery.
He has been in private practice in Hawaii for the past 10 years specializing in complex surgery of the spine. His practice has included teaching as well as pioneering minimally invasive techniques in spine surgery. He has experience in minimally invasive techniques involving anterior and posterior cervical, thoracic and lumbar surgery including endoscopic and thoracoscopic approaches. He has also taught non surgical evaluation and injection techniques of the spine.
Dr. Smith believes that successful treatment of spinal injury requires active involvement and rapport between the patient, the primary care giver and the subspecialist. Complete and through evaluation is needed prior to intervention.
Dr. Smith is board certified in orthopedics, a member of the North American Spine Society and the Association of American Orthopedic Surgeons.
He is currently in full time practice with Cascade Orthopaedics and seeing patients at our Auburn and Bonney Lake offices. He is privileged at Auburn Regional Medical Center and able to see in-patient consults as well.
